Y Stabal
A luxury, detached and spacious Wales Tourist Board 5 Star self-catering cottage in the Snowdonia National Park. Only a mile from Bala Lake and close to Bala Lake Narrow Gauge Railway, Y Stabal is set within the stunning scenery of the Aran and Arenig mountains. Being on the peaceful outskirts of Llanuwchllyn its village facilities, inlcuding village pub serving excellent food, and grocery/post office are within a 10 minute walk of the cottage. This is a wonderful area for bird watching - 40 species of birds were recently seen in one day within a mile of the cottage. It is also excellent walking country and especially to walk the Aran mountains as a path starts from the front door!

This very well equipped centrally heated and double glazed cottage has everything you will need to be your 'Home from Home' including lots of books, indoor and outdoor games, DVD's, CD's and Sky Freeview TV channels.

With 6 bedrooms, two with en-suite, Y Stabal is a self-catering holiday cottage for a large family or for friends, sleeping up to 9 guests plus cot if required.

Situated in a cul-de-sac position, the cottage features a secure garden. There are also ten acres to explore at your leisure including a shallow river with in which children are welcome to fish and play.

How to find 'Y Stabal'
5 miles from Bala,turn off the A494 (Bala to Dolgellau road) into the village of Llanuwchllyn. Proceed until you see a bus shelter on the right hand side. Turn left directly opposite the shelter. Go over the bridge and Y Stabal is on your left.

5. Third visit - we really love it here. Y Stabalis the perfect base to see North Walesfrom. This time went everywhere from Amlwch to Aberystwyth, went down copper mines and up slate inclines. Rode on the Tal-y-llynand visited Mountain Zoo and electric Mountain.. so much to do! Food excellent especially in 'Plas yn Dre'in Bala and Granvilles in Criccieth. Thanks - we hope to return again.

This very well equipped and spacious cottage has been attractively converted to a very high standard from the original 19th century stable block. It has been rated 5 Stars by the Wales Tourist Board, which is the highest possible accolade for quality, ambience and facilities. it contains everything necessary for your comfort and convenience.

On arrival you will be welcomed by a homemade cake and tea.

'Y Parlwr' – The Cosy Lounge
The lounge overlooks the secluded riverside garden and has a TV with Sky Freeview channels, Video recorder, DVD/CD player, a good selection of tapes/DVD's/CD's, games and books. It is the perfect place to relax and put your feet up.

'Y Gegin Orau' – The Lounge/Diner
The separate large lounge/diner has an additional TV with Sky Freeview channels.

'Y Gegin' – The Kitchen
The newly re-furbished kitchen has a dining area and our guests often comment on the many home from home features. It has a fridge/freezer, electric cooker with hob and oven, dishwasher and a microwave oven. There is also a fully equipped laundry room and a downstairs cloakroom.

'Y Lloftydd' – The Bedrooms
The cottage has 6 bedrooms, 2 of which have en-suite toilet / shower facilities. One of the en-suite bedrooms is on the ground floor and is suitable for disabled guests. There are 3 double bedrooms and 3 single bedrooms, 2 with 4ft beds. The family bathroom has a bath and separate high power shower cubicle.

A shallow river runs along the edge of the large secure garden which also has a patio area, off road parking and a secure bike storage building. Barbeque facilities and garden furniture are also available as well as outdoor games e.g. cricket, football, bowls etc.

Y Stabal is double glazed and centrally heated for your all year round comfort and has drying facilities for wet weather/persuits clothing. Secure storage facilities are also available on request.

This wonderful holiday home is available to you all year round on a weekly change or short break basis.

About the Area
The location of Y Stabal, just one mile from Bala lake is an ideal base for visiting all of the North and Mid Wales whether you are here to relax or to celebrate, or to get away from it all for a family occasion.

The culturally rich and lively town of Bala is only a short drive away. It has many restaurants and shops including supermarkets.
Buses stop only 200 yards from the cottage and regularly go into Bala Town.

It is the ideal base for exploring North Wales. Less than an hour's journey to Caernarfon and it's Castle, Portmeirion's Italianate Village, beautiful Betws y Coed; fabulous beaches of Barmouth and Fairbourne on the west coast and the stunning mountains of Snowdonia - including Snowdon itself , the highest mountain in England and Wales

Whilst staying at the cottage why not take a scenic trip on the Bala Lake Narrow Gauge Railway. You can also visit the steam train workshops, signal box and coffee shop - a real treat for narrow gauge railway and train enthusiasts. This is all within easy walking distance of Y Stabal and preferential terms are available for our guests.

Things to do
Being only one mile from Bala lake and 8 miles from the Tryweryn Wild Water Rafting Centre it is a water sports enthusiasts paradise. Yet it is only 20 miles from the beaches of Fairbourne and Barmouth. There are also many scenic walks and good climbing on nearby mountains including Cader Idris which is less than 15 miles away.
